Sports Medicine

UT Medical Center Sports Medicine team with One Knox Soccer team

Overview

If you don’t play a professional sport, you might not think of yourself as an athlete. But sports medicine doesn’t just treat injuries on the field. It also treats recreational athletes, who are injured as a result of an active, healthy lifestyle.

We help you improve performance, prevent and treat injuries and develop a lifelong commitment to caring for your body.

Our orthopaedic providers collaborate with University Family Physicians and other Centers of Excellence at UT Medical Center to provide comprehensive sports medicine care to our community.

Conditions We Treat

  • Sprains
  • Strains
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
  • Stress Fractures

Nonsurgical Treatments

Unless otherwise indicated, we treat sports injuries non-surgically. Our treatment options include:

  • Injections
  • Physical therapy
  • Splinting

Surgical Options

If surgery is needed, the University of Tennessee Medical Center provides treatment for many conditions of the shoulderhip and knee, including arthroscopy, which allows for less invasive procedures and quicker recovery.
